Kala channa curry

 Kala chana or black chickpeas is Delicious as well healthy dish .It can be paired with  Chapaties , Jeera rice ,Steamed rice ,and puries  .



CUISINE - NORTH INDIAN
COURSE - MAIN DISH

SOAKING TIME : 8 -10 HOURS
PREPARATION TIME: 30 MINUTES

INGREDIENTS

1. Black chnna - 1 cup
2. Water - 3 cups
3. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
4. Curry powder - 1 tsp
5 .Coriander powder - 1tsp
6. Onion - 2 finely chapped
7. Ginger paste  - 1tsp
8. Garlic paste - 1tsp
9. Dry red whole chilies - 3-4( optional)
10.Tomato puree -1/2 cup( 3-4 tomatoes )
11.Oil . 2 tbsp
12. Salt as per taste
13. Red chili  powder 1/2 tsp
14 . Cilantro or coriander leaves few


METHOD

1. Soak black chnna overnight or at-least for 7-8 hours before cooking . Make sure you are washing chnas properly before soaking so that we can use that same water for boiling process without destroying its  nutrients  .



 2. Put chnnas with its water in pressure cooker. Add salt close pressure cooker for 6-7 whistles.



 3. Put oil in a wok and add oil , cumin seeds , dry whole chilies , onions and ginger garlic paste . sute till golden brown then add tomato puree .Put all spices including curry powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder at this stage .




4.Now add boiled chnnas in this tarka ,don't put water and saute it for 4-5 minutes .Put its wtaer in which we boiled chnnas . Add more water if needed  and put it in pressure cooker for 1-2 whistle to mix or bind  spices properly with chnnas and gravy .

5.Black chnnas are ready . Serve it with rice ,puries and chapaties .
