Whole Wheat Puri

It is a popular dish in all over the India. Occasions are incomplete without this dish ,either Diwali ,Holi,specially on kanya puja and marriages . It can be pared with channas, allo bhaji , dry veggies  and chatney .

Preparation time: 10 -12 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes

INGREDIENTS


  • Whole wheat - 1 cups (approx 15 puries )
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 pinch of salt
  • Carom  seeds (ajwain) - 1/2 tsp
  • Water to make tight dough

Method: How to make puri ( step by step)

1.Put whole wheat flour in a bowl  and add salt , 1 spoon oil , ajwain and water .put little water at one time because dough should not be too soft for puries











2 .Divide dough in round balls of same size.



3.Make a round of 3-4 inch diameter from each of ball with rolling pin. Roll 5-6 six puries at a time












4.Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat. when oil is hot put one poori into hot oil and fry with slotted spatula and fry it till brown











5.Remove puri from oil on paper napkin with the slotted spatula so that extra oil can be absorb by  napkin

6. Serve puri with Aloo or any of your favorite veggies.












Wheat flour is rich source of fiber ,which helps in diabetes and obesity .Try to make puri using whole wheat flour not with white flour (Maida).
