Matar Paneer Recipes by Balvin's Kitchen

Its one of the favorite recipes in North India. Liked by every one. Made with home made cottage cheese and peas blended with Indian spices.

Cuisine: Punjabi dish
Category: Main course 

Ingredients 
1. Green Peas – 1 cup boiled or frozen
2. Paneer or cottage cheese 200 grams 
For paste or puree

  • Oil – 2 teaspoons
  • Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Onion – 1 medium roughly chopped
  • Ginger – ½ inch chopped
  • Garlic cloves – 2 chopped
  • Green chilies – 2 small chopped
  • Tomato – 2 small chopped
For gravy:
  • Olive or Vegetable Oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
  • Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala – ½ teaspoon
  • Salt according to taste.
  • Water – 1 cup.
  • Few Coriander leaves - finely chopped.
Recipe 
  1. Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a pan on medium heat. Once hot, add cumin seeds and cook till aroma comes.
  2. Add and Saute ginger, garlic and green chili for a minute.
  3. Add onion and salt cook till golden brown.
  4. Mix tomatoes and Cook till they becomes soft. Let it cool for a while 
  5. When onion and tomatoes are cooled put it into mixer and make fine puree
  6. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in pan and add prepared paste and saute.
  7. Cook till oil comes on sides of pan .
  8. Add peas ( if peas are frozen then put it in microwave for 3-4 minutes and if its raw then boil them first.)
  9. Add masala and cook for 2 -3 minutes. Put water and cook for 5-10 minutes.
  10. Add paneer and slow the heat. Wait till flavors of spices go into paneer
  11. Now turn off heat
  12. Sprinkle coriander leaves and serve with chapati or naan.
